FED:Sydney rail project important for west

A union says the federal government's plan to spend 2.1 billion dollars on a rail line
between Epping and Parramatta will help western suburbs residents by supporting local
jobs growth.

Rail Tram and Bus Union national secretary ALLAN BARDEN says western Sydney can't support
a growing population without investment in mass transit infrastructure such as railways.

The line will allow people to travel directly from the western suburbs to Sydney's
north without having to pass through the CBD.
