NSW:Young boy,man seriously hurt in Bathurst Show car crash
SYDNEY, April 30 AAP - A five-year-old boy and a 76-year-old man were critically injured
when an elderly driver reversed into crowds at the Bathurst Show, in NSW's central west.
The pair were among 10 people injured when a car, driven by an 82-year-old woman, ploughed
into the group at the Bathurst Showground shortly after 5pm (AEST) yesterday, police said.
A 76-year-old Cowra man suffered head injuries and a five-year-old boy from Lithgow
suffered serious head and leg injuries.
Both were airlifted to Sydney's Westmead Hospital where they remain in a critical condition,
police said.
Police, ambulance personnel and fire fighters attended the scene soon after the crash,
treating a 39-year-old Kelso woman for foot injuries, a 10-year-old Kelso boy for back
pain and a 28-year-old Bathurst woman for hip pain.
A 39-year-old man was treated for head injuries and a 61-year-old woman had leg injuries.
They are both from Kelso.
Also injured was a 45-year-old Blayney woman, who sustained leg and foot injuries.
A 12-year-old Eglington boy was treated for leg injuries and a 29-year-old Kelso woman
was treated for shock.
The 82-year-old driver also was treated for shock. She has not yet been formally interviewed
by police.
