FED: Anti cig campaigns may have encouraged kids to smoke

SYDNEY, Feb 4 AAP - Government anti-smoking campaigns had failed to decrease tobacco use
among school children and may have even encouraged them to take up the habit, the NSW Cancer
Council said today.

Doctors called for a funding boost of more than $60 million from the federal government for
a new push to tackle teenage smoking after the council released a report showing 30 per cent
of girls and 23 per cent of boys aged 15 years were smokers.
