Fed: Government should intervene in bad parenting: Latham

CANBERRA, Feb 20 AAP - A small number of children caused a lot of trouble in neighbourhoods,
Opposition Leader Mark Latham said today.

Mr Latham, who yesterday blamed parents for allowing their children to take part in
clashes with police in Sydney's Redfern riots, said government intervention was needed
when parents were failing.

"Ninety-eight per cent of parents do a wonderful job but for the two per cent who don't
know where their kids are at night and the kids aren't going to school, something's got
to be done," Mr Latham told ABC …
