SA: Man armed with pole and knife in overnight siege

ADELAIDE, Dec 30 AAP - A man armed with a pole and a knife held police at bay for more
than six hours in a siege in Adelaide overnight.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the 38-year-old man's house in Fulham,
in Adelaide's west, about 6pm (CDT) yesterday, after he allegedly threatened to kill his
neighbour.

The man armed himself with the pole and knife and refused to leave the house, she said.

The spokeswoman said Star Group officers and police negotiators were called in and
the man eventually surrendered and was arrested about 2.30am (CDT).

He was charged with threatening life, threatening harm and carrying offensive weapons.
