Fed: Lotto hitch won t be repeated, says Tattersall s

MELBOURNE, Dec 13 AAP - Gaming giant Tattersall's today promised the glitch that stalled
its Lotto machine on live television on Saturday evening won't be repeated.

The Lotto machine failed to drop the numbers for the live draw of Lotto number 1919,
forcing it to be drawn off-screen after the allotted TV segment.

Tattersall's said today in a statement it had completed a thorough investigation into
the malfunction.

"The draw was unable to start on time when the balls would not drop into the mixing
chamber, and the draw was conducted off-air minutes later, using an identical, standby-machine,"

Tattersall's said.

The machine was inspected today under government supervision and was found to be "in
perfect working order".

"It is believed the problem was caused when the machine did not properly reset after
the rehearsal, which took place minutes before the live draw."

Tattersall's said it would revise draw procedures to ensure the glitch would not be repeated.

"Despite this malfunction, Saturday Lotto draws will continue to be live and not pre-recorded
to ensure transparency is maintained."
